Safety & parental supervision

Built for kids. Controlled by parents.

Jumble Jr. is a youth entrepreneurship program, so safety is part of the product — not a policy buried in a footer.

Every child account is tied to a parent

A parent or guardian must register the family, agree to the participation terms, and confirm supervision before any child entrepreneur is approved.

Parents keep administrative control of the business: approving orders, arranging pickup or delivery, pausing participation, and managing payouts.

What we never show publicly

  • A child's last name, phone number, email, or home address never appears in the neighborhood shop.
  • Neighbors see a public business name, the ZIP code, available inventory, and pickup or delivery options only.
  • Customer orders are routed to the parent account, not to the child.

Customer communication

Customer communication involving a minor is parent controlled. Parents respond to order questions, confirm pickup windows, and coordinate deliveries.

Children should never meet an unknown customer alone, and should never share personal information online.

Firewood handling and lifting safety

  • Wear gloves. Split firewood has splinters, sharp edges, and can hide insects.
  • Lift with your legs, keep bundles close to your body, and never carry more than you can comfortably handle. Younger children should carry one bundle at a time, or use a wagon.
  • Stack racks low and stable. Never climb on a wood rack or stack bundles above shoulder height.
  • Keep the rack away from roadways, driveways, and slope edges. Watch for traffic when selling near a street.
  • Keep water nearby, never burn firewood indoors without proper ventilation, and keep children away from open flames.

Deliveries and vehicles

Children must never operate a vehicle, trailer, or power equipment, and must never perform an unsafe delivery.

Neighborhood deliveries involving a minor are completed by the parent or guardian. Customer pickup is the recommended default for youth businesses.

Adults 18 and older

Adult entrepreneurs operate independently and verify that they are 18 or older during registration. The same customer-safety standards and no-harassment rules apply to everyone in the program.

Reporting a concern

If an order, customer, or interaction ever feels unsafe, stop, tell your parent or guardian, and contact your local Jumble Firewood team immediately. We can pause or remove any account from the program.
